Works of Great Masters of the Italian Renaissance continue to inspire modern artists worldwide. In this painting “Medusa Rondanini” is crowned with a dove, the universal sign of peace, to underscore the importance of developing in humanity a loving heart and a peaceful mind.
Italian artistic innovation grew to include new skills and tools for working with materials like stone, metal, glass, tile, fabric, and leather, and in a broad range of industries from design, music, fashion, cuisine, fast cars to “espresso” coffee.
The Catholic Church tradition of influence, support and preservation of art helped Italy to become a “museum under the open sky.”
Some of these themes are captured here, including letters from the Italian alphabet ensconced in the 21 pizza sausages.
